Family Photography

Capturing all families in every season of life…

Beyond creating beautiful photos, my purpose is to bring out the best of your authentic dynamics during our session. I love finding ways to help everyone engage and play.

I don’t require your shy teenagers to smile, or for your energetic toddlers to sit still and look at the camera.

Using connection as a creative tool is my secret to capturing the things you most want to remember about the people you love.

How To Book A Session With Me

  • You have questions, I probably have answers! Let’s make sure we’re a good fit before we jump into all the details.

There are two ways you can submit an inquiry: 1) you can use the contact form on my website, or 2) you can use the inquiry button on my booking platform.

Just let me know where you’re located, what kind of session you’re interested in, any other relevant details, and any specific questions you have for me.

All inquiries will be responded to within 72 hours.

If you need more information prior to booking, I offer consultations by request. This is a completely optional step. It’s also free and requires no obligation for booking. I can conduct these consultations via phone or email- whichever you prefer!

  • Once you decide you’d like to book your session, we will need to pin down a time and date. After we solidify those details, I will send you a booking link through my booking platform.

You’ll get a confirmation of your session details, an online invoice, a client contract, and a questionnaire. The questionnaire helps me begin to prep your session details on my end.

  • After your deposit is paid you will get access to the Client Corner section of my website. This password protected space is full of resources to help clients plan their session details.

Here, you can find location guides, the client look book (a style guide with 40+ outfit ideas and mood boards), and other session tips to get you started.

I’m always available if you have questions or want to brainstorm other details for your session!

  • Session Day is here! It’s going to be a fun day- we’ll ease into the experience. I’ll take a few test shots, and then we’ll jump in with some easy posing and guidance. Depending on the vibe, we’ll add more dynamic movement and interaction. You’ll probably have more fun than expected, and I will be itching to get all the photo magic back to my computer for editing fun.

  • You will get a sneak peak gallery 2-3 days after your session, and your final gallery 7-10 days after your session. All galleries are sent via email.

When I edit, I pull everything I can from the session. I set a minimum number of photos so you have some guarantee for what you pay for, but I don’t put a cap on the photos you’ll receive (unless you’ve booked the Sample Package).

The final gallery is my finished product- I will only ever send fully edited photos. From there you can download them, order prints, or print through a third-party print lab.

If you want to first dibs on upcoming minis, exclusive deals, and giveaways, don’t forget to sign up for the email list!

 FAQs

  • I shoot at many locations scattered across Middle Tennessee and North Alabama. You might find me at a park, greenway, historic district, downtown areas, museums, or a public garden. I will travel to other locations by request!

Locations for my seasonal minis are pre-determined. However, when you book a stand-alone session you may have the opportunity to select your location.

I offer location guides as part of my client resources so you can get a clear idea of where you might like to shoot.

I’m always happy to offer suggestions if you’re stumped!

  • As of 2024, my turn around timeline has changed.

You can expect your sneak peek gallery within 72 hours of your session.

Your final gallery will be delivered within 14 days.

  • Absolutely! I love in-home sessions. These are mostly requested for newborn sessions or holiday sessions. However you can book an in-home session for any occasion.

I have a few blog posts on the subject, including tips to prepare your space for a home session, and concept ideas for home sessions.

  • LOCATION FEE
Some locations might have a location fee ranging from $10.00-$300.00.

If your selected location requires an additional photography fee, it is not included in the price of my services.

I outline locations with fees in my guides, and I will do my best to communicate any fees with you before we finalize your details.

    PRINTS
I offer prints for an additional price. I have a la carte options as well as print packages. My prints are ordered through a trusted, professional lab. However, printing is not a requirement when you book with me! You are welcome to use your print release to order from a third party lab of your choice.

  • When you book with me, you pay a 30% nonrefundable deposit that holds your place on my calendar.

If we have to reschedule for personal reasons, sickness, or weather, I will apply your deposit to another time/date.

  • Everyone’s needs are different, but here are some things I would consider when booking your package:

Do you have multiple kids under five, or a family size larger than six?

Would your kids benefit more from a fast paced session or a more laid back session?

Do you have a list of shots and accommodations that are important to you?

Do you have outfit changes you’d like to incorporate?

What is your budget and package requirements?

Your answers to these questions should help you gauge how much time you need in a session, and therefore which package to book.

  • I include a lot of movement and play in my sessions, which helps kids to warm up. It helps that I have a few tricks up my sleeve from years of photographing families, my time spent as a preschool teacher, and navigating my own children.

Sometimes kids have bad days though- so what do we do?

The first thing is to stay calm, and keep it light. Kids will usually match our energy so if we’re getting caught up in their bad mood, it’s game over.

I am really patient, and I make an effort to meet kids where they’re at. I won’t be overly demonstrative with a shy child, and I won’t tease a kid out of their bad mood when they don’t know me. I make space for them to come forward.

Sometimes a kid needs more time- so I will focus on other family members until they warm up. Sometimes they need control, so I’ll let them dictate a few poses. Sometimes they need a reset, so we can take a quick water break and calm down.

In extreme cases where we’ve tried everything and nothing is working, I’m happy to offer a reshoot. I would rather we all walk away happy than try to force something to happen. That being said, I haven’t had to offer a reshoot for a child’s bad day yet!

  • When doing a family session, I try to cover all the bases.

I will take whole family photos, shots of the kids together, and individual shots of each child. We might also do each parent with all the children, and a few shots of just the parents together.

This is a rule of thumb and can be altered to fit your needs- we’ll cover your specific requests in your pre-session communication.
