Create A Little Magic

  • Sweet and Simple

As a general rule, I like to keep things simple so your relationships, personality, and unique details shine through. I don’t use many props, or design ornate sets. I want your photos to feel natural, timeless, and real.

  • Not Just a Photography Session

Your best experiences are when you felt the most present with your loved ones, slowed down, and engaged in a way that felt meaningful. I make it my personal mission to help you feel connected to the moment. If you walk away from our session feeling like you enjoyed some quality time with your loved ones, my job was done.

  • A Process that Values You

Part of my professional philosophy is upholding the integrity of myself and my clients. I value your time, your ideas, and your personal requirements. I make this my priority from start to finish.

How To Book A Session With Me

  • You have questions, I probably have answers! Let’s make sure we’re a good fit before we jump into all the details.

There are two ways you can submit an inquiry: 1) you can use the contact form on my website, or 2) you can use the inquiry button on my booking platform.

Just let me know where you’re located, what kind of session you’re interested in, any other relevant details, and any specific questions you have for me.

All inquiries will be responded to within 72 hours.

If you need more information prior to booking, I offer consultations by request. This is a completely optional step. It’s also free and requires no obligation for booking. I can conduct these consultations via phone or email- whichever you prefer!

  • Once you decide you’d like to book your session, we will need to pin down a time and date. After we solidify those details, I will send you a booking link through my booking platform.

You’ll get a confirmation of your session details, an online invoice, a client contract, and a questionnaire. The questionnaire helps me begin to prep your session details on my end.

  • After your deposit is paid you will get access to the Client Corner section of my website. This password protected space is full of resources to help clients plan their session details.

Here, you can find location guides, the client look book (a style guide with 40+ outfit ideas and mood boards), and other session tips to get you started.

I’m always available if you have questions or want to brainstorm other details for your session!

  • Session Day is here! It’s going to be a fun day- we’ll ease into the experience. I’ll take a few test shots, and then we’ll jump in with some easy posing and guidance. Depending on the vibe, we’ll add more dynamic movement and interaction. You’ll probably have more fun than expected, and I will be itching to get all the photo magic back to my computer for editing fun.

  • You will get a sneak peak gallery 2-3 days after your session, and your final gallery 7-10 days after your session. All galleries are sent via email.

When I edit, I pull everything I can from the session. I set a minimum number of photos so you have some guarantee for what you pay for, but I don’t put a cap on the photos you’ll receive (unless you’ve booked the Sample Package).

The final gallery is my finished product- I will only ever send fully edited photos. From there you can download them, order prints, or print through a third-party print lab.

If you want to first dibs on upcoming minis, exclusive deals, and giveaways, don’t forget to sign up for the email list!

A Note from The Photographer

Hi, There!

I’m Lainie- the creator of Lainie Photography and Design. My art is inspired by finding beauty in simplicity, cherishing details, and deeply connecting with the people we love.

I believe these concepts are the cornerstones of sentiment. I want you to look back on your photos and feel nostalgic for this time in your lives.

We’re not just creating a nice aesthetic, we’re documenting real memories.

If my creative philosophy resonates with you, I would love to connect!

A Little Something for Everyone

  • Families

The vibe is natural and relaxed. By creating a warm atmosphere, encouraging movement, and prompting spontaneous connection, these sessions are full of sentimental emotion.

Lifestyle sessions can be adapted to fit your unique style and vision.

  • Maternity and Newborn

This season of life is all about slowing down, memorizing those tiny details, and embracing the new.

Whether you’re looking for a maternity session, newborn session, or first-year photos, these sessions help you capture these moments before you blink and they’re gone.

  • Seniors, Solos, and Headshots

Sometimes the focus needs to be on you! Senior sessions, branding sessions, and headshots have different requirements.

Whatever you’re looking for, I love the challenge of showcasing your personality and helping you make an impression.

  • Engagement and Weddings

I love helping you celebrate your love! When it comes to the wedding day, my hope is to capture all your important shots without adding to the chaos. I want you to relax and have fun!

You can book a stand-alone engagement session, or you can receive a complimentary session when you book a wedding package.

  • Events

When you’ve put in all the work to create a memorable event, the last thing you want to do is run around taking photos. Hiring a photographer helps you be in the moment.

Baby showers, birthday parties, bridal showers- you name it and I’m there!

FAQs

  • I shoot at many locations scattered across Middle Tennessee and North Alabama. You might find me at a park, greenway, historic district, downtown areas, museums, or a public garden. I will travel to other locations by request!

Locations for my seasonal minis are pre-determined. However, when you book a stand-alone session you may have the opportunity to select your location.

I offer location guides as part of my client resources so you can get a clear idea of where you might like to shoot.

I’m always happy to offer suggestions if you’re stumped!

  • Absolutely! I love in-home sessions. These are mostly requested for newborn sessions or holiday sessions. However you can book an in-home session for any occasion.

I have a few blog posts on the subject, including tips to prepare your space for a home session, and concept ideas for home sessions.

  • As of 2024, my turn around timeline has changed.

You can expect your sneak peek gallery within 72 hours of your session.

Your final gallery will be delivered within 14 days.

  • All of my packages include your 30% nonrefundable deposit, pre-session support, access to my client resource center, session time on location, online gallery, and print release.

Select packages include access to my client closet, additional individualized support, and props.

  • LOCATION FEE
Some locations might have a location fee ranging from $10.00-$300.00.

If your selected location requires an additional photography fee, it is not included in the price of my services.

I outline locations with fees in my guides, and I will do my best to communicate any fees with you before we finalize your details.

    PRINTS
I offer prints for an additional price. I have a la carte options as well as print packages. My prints are ordered through a trusted, professional lab. However, printing is not a requirement when you book with me! You are welcome to use your print release to order from a third party lab of your choice.

  • When you book with me, you pay a 30% nonrefundable deposit that holds your place on my calendar.

If we have to reschedule for personal reasons, sickness, or weather, I will apply your deposit to another time/date.

  • Of course! People often include their dogs, but I’m open to working with other animals.

I include a pet guide in my client resources so we can make this a seamless process.

  • I primarily favor lifestyle photographer over traditional portraiture. This style focuses on natural, candid moments.

I use prompts instead of posing- suggesting ways you can interact with each other and the environment to encourage genuine connection.

While I work in some in-door locations, I don’t do studio work or ornate set designs. Working in an everyday setting adds layers to the storytelling element of lifestyle photography.

Finally, I almost exclusively work with natural light. Natural lighting is universally flattering and helps to achieve a softer aesthetic. I have experience with flash photography, but that is often reserved for events.

Facilitating a session in this way feels more organic and enables me to capture those micro-seconds of emotion that make your photos FEEL sentimental.

  • I use professional editing tools to achieve my ever-evolving editing style. Over the years, I’ve carefully curated an aesthetic that is inspired by film photography.

I love incorporating slightly warmer tones to create a cozier feel to your images. I intentionally balance texture and softness to add layers of interest to your photos.

I routinely conduct some detailed edits (removing distracting elements in the background, temporary blemishes on the skin, etc). I don’t do extensive edits, such as head swapping and body modification.

  • The time of day can impact the undertones of your images. Morning light is soft and has a blueish tone. This light is deal for a soft, tranquil, or even refreshing vibe.

By contrast, late afternoon light is a little more intense, and has a yellow/orange tone. This lighting creates a vibrant, ,energetic, and sometimes romantic emotion in your photos (think “golden hour”).

I like to avoid direct over head light because it can cast harsh, unflattering shadows.

With these things in mind, I typically schedule photos between 7-10AM, and 2-6PM- depending on the time of year.

I stick to this rule of thumb, even when scheduling in-door sessions.

  • In general, I ask that clients book at least two weeks in advance. This gives us plenty of time to communicate and plan for your session.

During the busy spring and fall seasons, it’s a good idea to book at least a month in advance. These are both popular seasons for photo sessions, and I tend to book out quickly during this time of year.

My schedule frequently changes, so it’s worth asking about last-minute availability if you need photos ASAP. I can’t guarantee a spot, but I do my best to accommodate all inquiries.

  • I offer year-round mini packages. These sessions are 30 minutes long, with a guarantee of at least 15 edited photos. You are welcome to book this package as it suits you.

I also conduct themed minis multiple times a year. These sessions incorporate a specific theme or aesthetic. Props, dates, and locations are chosen ahead of time. Examples include wildflower minis, apple picking minis, and hot cocoa minis.
